This is a shameless attempt to save the the most advanced civilization in
history from imminent self destruction by eliminating carbon emission,
dependence on foreign sources of fuel, obesity, hypertension and diabetes.
Cycling accomplishes all those things at once and helps us develop a better
understanding of ourselves, each other and our relationship to the cosmos.

Oh, horse puckey!
I like to ride bikes, have been doing it all my life.
The rest of that crap is just a fringe benefit,
and the blogosphere gives me a chance to share my interior
monologue with virtual rather than imaginary friends.

Innocence

A few Months ago I was contacted by a cyclist seeking guidance after moving to town.   She's a Riv rider who transplanted with her family from Las Vegas.  They had grown up in the Dakota's, but spent their adult professional lives in Los Angeles and Las Vegas before the career path brought them to Michigan, in December, with nothing to protect them but childhood memories of precipitation.  Needless to say, Leah, the family cyclist, is feeling a bit frustrated with all the opportunities she has to acclimate to four seasons, every week.
I have to admit this spring is later and colder than others.  It's so bad that I begged off a ride one evening and a friend chastised me, of all people,  quoting Rule #5.  It hurt, but I'll get over it   In the meantime, the neophyte Leah,  has been earning  rule#9 recognition on a daily basis riding her amazing Platypus.
She picked the color personally and the rasperry metallic really pops!
The details of the lug design and paint are exquisite
and the workmanship on the welded portions are flawless.
Of course it wouldn't be a Rivendell without a beautifull headbadge.
If you want one you can get in line.  Each shipment sells out fast and requires patience, but good things come to those who wait.
