This is a shameless attempt to save the the most advanced civilization in
history from imminent self destruction by eliminating carbon emission,
dependence on foreign sources of fuel, obesity, hypertension and diabetes.
Cycling accomplishes all those things at once and helps us develop a better
understanding of ourselves, each other and our relationship to the cosmos.

Oh, horse puckey!
I like to ride bikes, have been doing it all my life.
The rest of that crap is just a fringe benefit,
and the blogosphere gives me a chance to share my interior
monologue with virtual rather than imaginary friends.

The fallacy of using machines

...is that they get dirty and need to be cleaned and fixed now and then.
It seems the 1500 or so miles I have put on the Hunqa on trips this year has made those beautiful VO Zepplin fenders
pretty scuzzy lookin' and dull.
So, I just left some instructions along with Simichrome polish and rags with my roomate
while I went out and pursued my mid-life fantasies with young women.
Yeah right, I might as well spray him with Endust and expect something positive to happen.
But a short 30 minutes of watching Snews in america later,
I was really quite pleased. Not only that the Simichrome polish worked well, but the fenders have also.
Even though some people would think that aluminum wouldn't be the best choice for a touring fender, these have no cracks, pits or dings.  I really had thought that the "hammered"  texture would be better for some of the rough riding these have had, but the beautiful finish and exquisite lines have held up beautifully despite it all.
