This is a shameless attempt to save the the most advanced civilization in
history from imminent self destruction by eliminating carbon emission,
dependence on foreign sources of fuel, obesity, hypertension and diabetes.
Cycling accomplishes all those things at once and helps us develop a better
understanding of ourselves, each other and our relationship to the cosmos.

Oh, horse puckey!
I like to ride bikes, have been doing it all my life.
The rest of that crap is just a fringe benefit,
and the blogosphere gives me a chance to share my interior
monologue with virtual rather than imaginary friends.

The endless autumn

This year will be remembered in Michigan as the the Endless Autumn.  I honestly cannot remember such beautiful weather this late in the year.  October was perfect and now in November we've had a solid week of days that are dry and nearing '70.  I rushed through my work to get out and enjoy 15- 20 miles on the LHT

even the ducks are hanging around.  Not many people were out enjoying the weather, but even the golf courses were getting some late business in this year.

The leaves are all off the trees and it makes the trails more picturesque, for some reason it seems more
quiet with a layer of leaves insulating the ground.

The crisp dryness of the air and silence of the woods makes me wonder why nobody else is here.
