This is a shameless attempt to save the the most advanced civilization in
history from imminent self destruction by eliminating carbon emission,
dependence on foreign sources of fuel, obesity, hypertension and diabetes.
Cycling accomplishes all those things at once and helps us develop a better
understanding of ourselves, each other and our relationship to the cosmos.

Oh, horse puckey!
I like to ride bikes, have been doing it all my life.
The rest of that crap is just a fringe benefit,
and the blogosphere gives me a chance to share my interior
monologue with virtual rather than imaginary friends.

That time of year

We haven't even seen winter yet.  It might be unseasonably warm but it's still the time of year when I usually cuss myself out for being a madman on my way to the garage, then two blocks down the road am unzipping, unsnapping and pulling back the hood to cool off.

Well, it just ain't happening that way this year.  Christmas Eve day the temps were in the 50's.  Just cool enough for a jacket and gloves.   A twenty five or thirty mile ride was nothing but invigorating.  I saw a number of people out with like minds enjoying the roads and trails around town.  Maybe we'll see a few weeks of winter, but the days are officially getting longer and the potential is getting shorter.
