This is a shameless attempt to save the the most advanced civilization in
history from imminent self destruction by eliminating carbon emission,
dependence on foreign sources of fuel, obesity, hypertension and diabetes.
Cycling accomplishes all those things at once and helps us develop a better
understanding of ourselves, each other and our relationship to the cosmos.

Oh, horse puckey!
I like to ride bikes, have been doing it all my life.
The rest of that crap is just a fringe benefit,
and the blogosphere gives me a chance to share my interior
monologue with virtual rather than imaginary friends.

and a week later...

So, last Thursday I was riding in this.
A few people had the nerve to question my behavior, but you're a cyclist or not.   This can be managed safely, believe it or not, and it's an interesting change of the seasons.
      Now, a week later
fourteen inches of snow is gone and left us feeling as if 50 degrees is 70.  It feels downright balmy out there.  Typical Michigan weather has kicked in,  things will change a bit day to day, but that's normal in Michigan.  We're gonna slide into real winter now, but there's plenty of recreational riding for those of us who dress for the weather.
