This is a shameless attempt to save the the most advanced civilization in
history from imminent self destruction by eliminating carbon emission,
dependence on foreign sources of fuel, obesity, hypertension and diabetes.
Cycling accomplishes all those things at once and helps us develop a better
understanding of ourselves, each other and our relationship to the cosmos.

Oh, horse puckey!
I like to ride bikes, have been doing it all my life.
The rest of that crap is just a fringe benefit,
and the blogosphere gives me a chance to share my interior
monologue with virtual rather than imaginary friends.

Rejoice! Rejoice!

Everybody should be happy about this.

  1. i cannot say that this makes me happy. The verdict won't bring back those five lives, remove the lingering pain of the survivors' injuries, nor relieve the heartache of the families and friends of the lost.
i suppose i am relieved that this driver will never again have the opportunity to kill with a vehicle, but i find that a cold comfort. i would hope that such an incident would never happen again, but in my heart i know otherwise.

    1. It's a comfort to know the legal system recognized the severity of the crime and set this precedent. Too often, the drivers are given lenient verdicts and sentences.
