In my position as PR director for the Kazoo bike club, I spent a nerve racking day answering e mail and requests for phone interviews in the wake of Tuesday's horror. On ThursdayI did what I had planned and the best thing I could do. Went for a bike ride. I had planned a five day ride and the pleasant afternoon rambling around gravel roads was cathartic. I found myself more aware of cars and more apt to bail to shoulder than I normally would. I was pleased to see that murder charges were levelled against the driver.
This is a shameless attempt to save the the most advanced civilization in
history from imminent self destruction by eliminating carbon emission,
dependence on foreign sources of fuel, obesity, hypertension and diabetes.
Cycling accomplishes all those things at once and helps us develop a better
understanding of ourselves, each other and our relationship to the cosmos.
Oh, horse puckey!
I like to ride bikes, have been doing it all my life.
The rest of that crap is just a fringe benefit,
and the blogosphere gives me a chance to share my interior
monologue with virtual rather than imaginary friends.

Hope this incident gets plenty of publicity. Also, hope the driver doesn't get a menial sentence for such a travesty. Hang in there.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you were able to get out on your bike. Best therapy there is.
