This is a shameless attempt to save the the most advanced civilization in
history from imminent self destruction by eliminating carbon emission,
dependence on foreign sources of fuel, obesity, hypertension and diabetes.
Cycling accomplishes all those things at once and helps us develop a better
understanding of ourselves, each other and our relationship to the cosmos.

Oh, horse puckey!
I like to ride bikes, have been doing it all my life.
The rest of that crap is just a fringe benefit,
and the blogosphere gives me a chance to share my interior
monologue with virtual rather than imaginary friends.

Now that's what I'm talkin' about...

A couple inches of snow, some freezing rain on top of that.
It's enough to make a trip to the grocery an adventure.
It validates all the preparation and worry I've put into this season.
This is beginning to look more like it.  Frozen rutted paths and side streets are worthy of studded tires, oily chains and handwarmers.  All that sissy pretend winter we were having
was a waste of the Hunq's attention and skills.

Maybe another week of this and I will be able to go skiing.
In the meantime, I keep thinking of the improvements and promises kept by the powers that be,
There are good things happening and a great recap
of the improvements in New York is a lovely example of all things about which
Dorothy Rabinowitz complains.  She is being continually begrimed, you gotta love it!
She's right, it's not Paris, not yet, but even New York can be civilized.
