This is a shameless attempt to save the the most advanced civilization in
history from imminent self destruction by eliminating carbon emission,
dependence on foreign sources of fuel, obesity, hypertension and diabetes.
Cycling accomplishes all those things at once and helps us develop a better
understanding of ourselves, each other and our relationship to the cosmos.

Oh, horse puckey!
I like to ride bikes, have been doing it all my life.
The rest of that crap is just a fringe benefit,
and the blogosphere gives me a chance to share my interior
monologue with virtual rather than imaginary friends.

A reincarnation

So I had the old Raleigh Mixte powdercoated and detailed the lugwork.

I intend to raid through the parts bin to rebuild it for my son.  He has shown enough interest and use for his Jamis Commuter that I think he could use a bike that's lighter, faster and more fun.
I started through it all and donated the rear wheel and crankset from my Trek to make it work.
Found an adjustable stem (in black) a saddle, a seatpost, a front wheel and the hammered fenders I had left over from my other mixte.
I'll need to rummage through to find a couple of things and spend the weekend wrenching away to make it all work.
