This is a shameless attempt to save the the most advanced civilization in
history from imminent self destruction by eliminating carbon emission,
dependence on foreign sources of fuel, obesity, hypertension and diabetes.
Cycling accomplishes all those things at once and helps us develop a better
understanding of ourselves, each other and our relationship to the cosmos.

Oh, horse puckey!
I like to ride bikes, have been doing it all my life.
The rest of that crap is just a fringe benefit,
and the blogosphere gives me a chance to share my interior
monologue with virtual rather than imaginary friends.

Fast water rising

Recent storms have left a lot of us inside thinking about riding around.   It rained nearly every day for the past week and the climax was a huge storm with embedded tornadic activity.  The result on the local MUP was dramatic.
That's one of the picnic tables at a local park,
At the other end of the park, the fish were jumping on the path itself.

At other locations the river had crept out of its banks in the nature conservancy.

I thought I was the smart one on the path since I was using full fenders, but my feet were actually submerged at several locations.  Fortunately none of the trail was actually washed out, but there is going to be muddy asphalt to look forward to.
