This is a shameless attempt to save the the most advanced civilization in
history from imminent self destruction by eliminating carbon emission,
dependence on foreign sources of fuel, obesity, hypertension and diabetes.
Cycling accomplishes all those things at once and helps us develop a better
understanding of ourselves, each other and our relationship to the cosmos.

Oh, horse puckey!
I like to ride bikes, have been doing it all my life.
The rest of that crap is just a fringe benefit,
and the blogosphere gives me a chance to share my interior
monologue with virtual rather than imaginary friends.

Sunday and the MUP

Sunday was glorius spring weather, and I took Byron out for a little ride to enjoy a some of it.  It was 85 degrees, an unheard of temp for April in Michigan.  I decided to cut over to the mall by way of the MUP and was that ever a mistake.  I thought I had ridden into the middle of some kind of fundraiser.  There were baby/dogwalkers everywhere enjoying nature on their ipods and ignoring any warning bell or shout.  It was so dangerous it scared me back to the street.  The potholes and pickup trucks were a lot easier to navigate than the rollerblades and tricycles.  But, in a parking lot there was a ray of hope for the world.  We may not be able to afford to fix potholes or educate our young

but we've got this going for us!
