The Ride Home

After sleeping through a rather violent thunderstorm which rolled off the lake about 4 in the morning, I went downtown for breakfast.  The town is slow in the morning.  Being a resort town, catering to weekend boaters and beachers, there aren't many crowds about.  The town has become rather bike friendly

with sharrows and bike lanes on most streets.  Several hotels have bikes available for their guests and there are many rental companies.  Although the morning sport seems to be feeding the multitude of seagulls,

I wasn't the only cyclist out on the street.
But even on a Friday morning things in a tourist town are pretty darned quiet.

After breakfast and a nap, I packed up the Hunq and made the trip home in the afternoon.  I packed a couple of Clif Bars for lunch and was glad to be on a trail.  Eventhough the packed limestone is considerably slower, the overhanging trees and lack of black asphault make the August heat more tolerable and the 3 1/2 hours of pedaling a lot more pleasant.
