Staying last night at Indiana Dunes, the campground was virtually empty. During a passing storm one of the millions of trees broke and fell on my tent. I was pinned underneath for ten minutes until another camper came to my rescue. That wasn't strange enough, neither I not my tent were damaged in any way. Didn't even get wet.
Wow! Glad to hear that you're OK. Scary!
ReplyDeleteGlad you're okay. I have a friend who had this happen to him on a scout trip as a child, and it broke his arm. He got me in the habit of checking for "widowmakers" whenever I set up a tent.
ReplyDeleteThis sad event happened not too far from you about this time last year, at Devil's Lake where I have camped quite a few times.

So weird. Glad you came out of it dry and unharmed.

ReplyDeleteAfter looking at the tree in the morning, I decided the full foliage and smaller branches at the top slowed the descent so the main trunk settled down gently on the top of my tent, with me beneath it of course.
