A new advocacy season begins.

It's that time of year again.  The days are getting shorter, the air is cooler the trees are turning and a whole new season is developing.  I suppose some are dusting off the trainers and checking on spinning classes.   That's not the season I'm talking about.  I'm just wearing some warmer clothes and enjoying riding without sweating through my undies.  I haven't even made plans to put the studs on yet.
Now that club rides have slowed down, we are in the beginning of advocacy season.  People start meeting in secret to plan the attack..  After all we are the "All Powerful" bike lobby, an ineluctable force on the American political landscape according to this demented bitch from the Wall Street Journal.
We are beginning to plot and connive to further "begrime" her neighborhood and life.  The New York Times has sponsored an open debate  among advocates to help develop new infrastructure and restrict the use of cars, but don't worry Dorothy:

Here, in the Midwest, the spinning season is approaching and it helps get other things done.  Tonight a group got together to start planning next year's  Bike Week activities.  It's more than 6 months away.  Last year was pretty darn successful and we can only hope next year will be better, the template has been laid and we are getting an earlier start.
