.Musing about driving

Very few people even think about it.  I do.  Every time the option arises, I think of the alternatives and usually change my mind.  I teach part-time, I have a business practice advising small business owners about benefits and retirement plans, so I have obligations.  Unlike a lot of people my age,I have a social purpose and need to actually go places and see people.  I'm always glad to see other people out and commuting

now that the weather has broken.  It's getting warmer and I was just thinking about how little I've been driving.  During the past 3 weeks,  I drove my car to the car wash and back.  Sometime in the past month it got all dirty and once the weather dried up and the sun came out, I decided to clean it and put it back in the garage.  It's nice to have, cars have value in today's world, it makes me feel like I can masquerade as a person whenever I like.
It has begun to bother me though. I am 61 years old, haven't had a ticket since forever.  I carry the minimum insurance to be street legal, and spend more for insurance premiums than I do for gas.  The only time I have used the car in three weeks is to maintain it.  Something is just plain wrong with a value like that.
