Well the UCI disappointed me and accepted the report of the USADA as legal evidence against Lance Armstrong. There must have been enough corroborating testimony to hold something up without a sweaty bib under it. Then again, from what I have been reading, the investigation upholds the belief we have all had that the sport has been overwhelmed by drug use throughout the peleton for years and years. Because of that, the TDF will not even try to pick a winner to replace Lance Armstrong and his victories will be commemorated by the the blankness on the page of records. Future generations of aspiring racers will point to the blankness and ask, "Daddy, why didn't they race then?" Dad will have to say they did but everybody cheated so they took the winner's name off, he was...
I still feel it's stupid to pursue and make example of one competitor in the past. Since everybody is suspect, everybody was subjected to the same rules and tests, if there was a failure it was the responsibility of the administrators of the competition. They should just be sucking up the blame themselves and concentrate on making the sport cleaner in the future.
It would be OK to hand out speeding tickets at the Indy 500, but just one?
