Lance for Secretary of State!

After reading a news flash on WSJ.com (the same great authority who enfranchised P.J. O'Roarke as a cycling expert) and a full 10 minutes of careful deliberation over a hard ice tea, I like what Lance Armstrong did.   Not only is he good at riding a bike, he is a champion negotiator.  By withdrawing from the the controversy and not forcing arbitration, everybody wins.   He can still contend he is innocent, his detractors can accept it as an admission of guilt, the USADA can ceremoniously strip him of his titles.  The UCI can claim jurisdiction and ignore the USADA, thumb their noses at the uppity Americans by standing on the test results they already have, and his supporters can happily point their fingers at that. None of the witnesses have to testify.  It's great, the lawyers won't  make millions arguing over something culturally inconsequential.
