This is a shameless attempt to save the the most advanced civilization in
history from imminent self destruction by eliminating carbon emission,
dependence on foreign sources of fuel, obesity, hypertension and diabetes.
Cycling accomplishes all those things at once and helps us develop a better
understanding of ourselves, each other and our relationship to the cosmos.

Oh, horse puckey!
I like to ride bikes, have been doing it all my life.
The rest of that crap is just a fringe benefit,
and the blogosphere gives me a chance to share my interior
monologue with virtual rather than imaginary friends.

Fixie

I'm not really into the fixie hipster crowd, that falls under the "I'mtoo...ah matureforthatshit" file.  My knees scream with agony at the thought.  But I ran across this cool looking fixie.  The owner Mike caught me taking the photo and caught up to talk bikes.  This is a Surly frame he has repainted and had all the metal anodized that beautiful cherry color.  It looks really striking, especially with the Brooks saddle.  He is using the new Sturmey Archer fixed 3 speed and raves about the performance.  He really loves the fixed riding and said it's just a total blast.

I'd almost be tempted to try it with that hub.  If you have a couple of gear changes, how hard can it be on the knees?
